Elise Brichot

At first sight Elise Brichot’s paintings seem simple: lovely everyday subjects such as plants form the subjects of her paintings.  But the depicted images are merely a motive. They’re just a means to paint. 

The real subject of Elise’s practice must be found elsewhere, outside of the painted scenes.

Elise’s real subject is painting itself. With her paintings she asks questions about the medium of painting, and how this medium relates to other mediums.
